Experience

A founding partner of Santiago Burger LLP, Michael A. Burger began his legal career at the New York City bar, representing individual clients before trial and appellate courts. In 1999, Mike moved his practice to Rochester, New York (to follow and marry the love of his life, Anne), but continues to serve his "downstate" clients at "upstate" rates.
Mike has gained client and peer recognition as a Business Litigation "Super Lawyer" and often acts as special or trial counsel, collaborating with other lawyers who face discrete litigated issues within their dedicated areas of expertise. Ever respectful of the attorney client relationship, Mike is attentive to all the goals within a goal and to the intricacies of civil practice in New York State and federal courts. Mike solves problems and loves doing it.
Clients seeking Mike's advice and representation have included shareholders, partners, LLC members, executors, administrators, trustees, other fiduciaries and agents facing a wide range of legal issues including will and trust contests, shareholder disputes, corporate and other entity dissolution proceedings, power of attorney abuse, alleged breach of fiduciary duty and funeral or burial rights. A small portion of Mike's practice remains dedicated to defending people against unconstitutional laws and government overreaching. No matter the case, Mike's clients have come to comfortably rely upon Mike's action-driven, "no-obstacles" mentality and innate ability to readily adapt to developments in real time.
In addition to his law practice, Mike lectures before the bar and occasionally writes a column addressing some of the legal issues he encounters.
